A CARGO OF CRIMINALS.
Another cargo of moral sewage has, says the Argus, been discharged in the port of Noumea from the transport ship Loire, which lias brought 372 convicts, of whom no less than two-thirds are officially classified as invotcrato criminals, consisting of 33 assassins, 18 murders, 24 homicides, 18 men who have been guilty of criminal attempts upon women, 21 incendiarists, 9 who aro convicted of stabbing and-wound-ing, 12 forgers, 20 coiners of counterfeit money, 1 bigamist, 277 habitual thieves. Of these 226 aro old offenders, although by no means old in years: font seems that tlioso who witnessed their debarkation too struck by the youthfulness of the greater number of them "Co sout lous enfants" was tho exclamation which rose to the lips of the bystanders. As well it might; for there were no less than 50 who aro under 20 years of ago, and 114 who nro between 20 and 25. They are, therefore, full of physical vigor, which will quality them to succeed in tho efforts they arc sure to make to escape from a penal settlement; and they will have possibly a long career of crime before them in these colonics, towards ■which they will naturally shape their course,
