A Meeting of the Committee of tlio Masterton Cricket Club was held last evening, Among other business the Secretary reported that the club had played eleven matches during .the season, of which it had won eight, being beaten by, tho Midland Club (Wellington), Langdalo,(itu| Greytown, The defeat by the latter club had been wiped out, Masterton having since scored two wins, This record must be considered very satisfactory, considcring the great disadvantage the club labors [under in not having a practice ground, It is 'anticipated that if the Park Oval is available next year, Masterton will have a very strong club. Beard's) bat for the highest batting average, and Mr W, McKenzie the club's bat for the lowest bowling average, Tho above averages will compare favorably with those of any other club in the provincial district, and the Masterton cricketers are to be congratulated on. the excellent records they have made.
