TARATAHI-CARTERTON ROAD BOARD.

■6(From the Observer.) The usual monthly meeting of the above Board was held on Saturday at the Council Chambers. PresentsMessrs Burton Boys (Chairman), W, 0. Buchanan, M.H.R., H. R. Bunny, H. Braithwaite, W. Parker, and L. Nix. '

_ The minutes of the previous meeting having been read and confirmed, the Treasurer made his usual report, quoting balance to credit of the Board on 28th March of m 10s 3d,

It was resolved:—"That the Chairman and W. 0. Buchanan be appointed a committee for the purpose of arranging with (he Bank for accommodation up to £SOO.

The drawing of lots for the retirement of four members of tho Board, was then proceeded with, the Chairman I drawing the same, with the following result-.-That Wardens for No. 2 (L. Nix), No. 3 (W. Parker), No. 5, and W. C. Buchanan (one of the Wardens for No. 8 Ward), retire on the'lst day of May, 1884. CORRESPONDENCE, The following inward correspondence was then read : From the Property Tax Department stating that the proclamation re Native Ldnds of 21st January had been revoked, From I. Feist, slating that he is no longer the owner of section 242. From Wairarapa West County Council, revoking tho appointment of A. Gallon, as a member of tho Board, the said appointment having been made m misapprehension of law. The outgoing correspondence was read from the letter book.

Mr Welch waited upon the Board requesting some repairs to Moffat's line,

On the motion of Mr Buchanan, seconded by Mr Bunny, it was resolved that the work required on Moffat's line be executed under Mr Welch's supervision at a cost not exceeding £4. The Chairman slated that he had receiyed a telegram from Mr Booth apologising for unavoidable absence, and asking for; authority to borrow 41000 under the Roads and Bridges Construction Act for work in No. 6 Ward, and it was .resolved! HINAU GUUY ROAD.Resolved; That an application be mado to the chief survey office to lay off and take a road from Hinau Gully road at the south eastern corner of section 329, following the eastern boundary of said section to the northern end of section 331.

Resolved: That tenders be called for 16 chains of metalling on Hilton Road, and five chains ditto on Richmond Road,

Resolved: That Joseph Corps be informed that if he do not remove his wheels from now laying on the Gladstone road, the Board will do the same at his expense.

Resolved: That tho County Engineer be written to respecting the overflow of water on P, Carr's contract Park Road.

Resolved: That the question of striking a rate for the. ensuing financial year be considered at next meeting.
