"It is not to be supposed," says a writer on the subject of penmanship, " that in every case the character can be told with perfect correctness from the handwriting j but it can be confidently stated that in most cases the writing is a true index to the character. Thus a hand with many flourishes and dashes invariably shows a love of display, and in most cases a hasty temper y a small cramped hand, closeness in money matters, also reserve, possibly suspicion. An upright, almost perpendicular writing, shows fondness for study, and a mind of high capacity, also love of solitude, except where there are many flourishes, which show a social disposition.
