LOWES & IRONS' MARKET SALE.
The largest stock sale yet held in this district was conducted by Messrs Lowes & lorns at their Madterton Yards on Wednesday afternoon. Some four or five hundred settlers were present from all parts of the Valley, and the yards were, crowded in every part with the sheep and cattle, and an adjoining paddock being used for the horses, ifeo. Altogether, about 4500 sheep, five or six pens of oattle, 70 stud rams, a number of horses, and a small lot of fowls were disposed of, the total amount realised'by the &alo coming something near £2OOO. The following is the sale list;—
SHEEP—IOO ewes (culls), Mace, ss: ditto, Thompson, ss; 158 ditto, G. H. Welch, ss; 63 cull lambs (shorn), Rayner, at 4s; 76 wethers, A. Johnston, at 10s lid j 150 ewes, Bannisten, 10s 3d; 60 ewes, Herbert, 8s; 2001 culls (old), Buddeu, 3s; 370 lambs (inV wool)* H. McMaster, 6s; 450 ditto, \ L, Nix, 6s; 200 ewes, Mawley, 7s 9d; * 130 ditto, Daysb, 7s 9d; 120 fat sheep, Carman, lis; 100 ohII ewes, Bowles, 7s I'd; 100 shorn lambs, Johnston, 4s 3d; 200 Lincoln ewes, E. Chamberlain, 9s 3; 150 ditto, A. Johnston, 9s 3d; 50 mixed sheep, A. Johnston, 5s 7d; 150 two tooth wethers, Clifton, 7s; 300 lambs (in wool), H, McMaster, 7ssd; 500 culls (old), Ingley, 3a Id. ■ RAMS.—Ootswold from 30s to 40a; Lincoln, 20s to 57s 6d. 50 sold. CATTLE.-2-year-olds, 57s to £3 18s 6d; steers, 98s; cows, from £4los. ' HORSES,-Hacks, from £2 to £ls. Mr Buckeridge's blood stock brought from.£B 10s to £27, only five being sold.. They are now open for private purchase, FOJWLS.—Brnhmas, 30s pen.
