J, Paterson, who also spoke ;in admiration of.the hymn book. After a lengthened conversation on the subject the Assembly came to.the.following finding:—•' That this Assembly receives the report with thanks from the committee,. and especially the Rev. McKenzie Fraser, who prepared, the report, and adopted the edition-' -.of %ok iof psalms and hyms styled ' Church' Praise,' which gives full number of psalms and hymns, as suitable for use in service of praise in the Church, and as a great improvement iu every l'espect on the book nowiin use; and cordially recommend its introduction wherever practicable, and enjoins congregations to be careful in introducing books so 83 to combine harmony.and avoid pressing unduly on circumstances of individuals and. congregations." ; : The Assembly further instructs the clerk to ask Messrs Nisbet h Co., publishers, to issue! a complete edition, 1 leaving title page suitable to this ; Church. There was a general increase as compared with last year j there being 86 schools, 742 teachers (322 males and 420 female-teachers), 6,094 scholars, with an average attendance of 5,142, The school libraries amounted to 12,400 u015.,;. 683./ scholars attending week night bible class, and there are four preparation classes for teaohers.
