WOODVILLE.

[From an occasional Correspondent,]

The Woodville Cheese and Bacon Factory Co. avo about to call tenders for the erection of its building, which will be the final step before actually commencing business, which they expect to do early-, next spring. The factory will measure some 50ft. by 30ft., and will have a double gable. The dairy will be large and airy, and all other conveniences have received great attention, so as to give every assistance in producing the best results, The site consists of five acres oi flat land, situated one mile from Woodville township, with a good road leading to it. It is a corner section, and cost the Company £IOO. Through one side of it there is a good permanent creek, and this makes about as good a site as could be had both for water and drainage. The site was chosen by Mr T. P. Girdwood and two Woodville gentlemen, who were appointed a Committee for the purpose, A new plant from England has arrived in splendid order, specially chosen for the purpose by Messrs Levin k Go's Home agents. It is for making cheese on the English principle. The Directors have provided themselves with a milk tester, which is evidently a thing which the the Wairar'apa factories forget to ob" tain, for I see that skimmed and sour milk has been sold to thoso factories. This should not have been allowed to, happen, and the sooner these Companies provide themselves with a lacto-

meter the better for the shareholders. I hear that Fabiatua 13 going to have a public meeting on the 25th inst. It is high time they had a gathering down there, for there has not been one for a very long time. Pahiatua used to have them on an average once a week. The meeting will, I believe, endorse the feelings of indignation that were recently expressed in Woodville on the subject of the railway's being stopped, for although not quite so directly affected, Pahiatua suffers, without a doubt, from any such'delay. A large new twostoried building is now being erected in'McLean-street, which will be two commodious shops when complete, and I hear of five more Bhop buildings going to bo built in Yogel street. These, with the Courthouse and some more shops that might possibly be erected, will by degrees enable settlers to supply their, wants, the shops to make the purchases from, and the Courthouse for the tradesmen to suo for payment in. All this'is very satisfactory you know, and I declare the place is becoming fast civilised.
