A NEW HARVESTING MACHINE.
The reaping machine (aaya the Adelaide Observer) has long been a prominent feature in South Australian agricultural operations, but now another labor-saving machine has boen introduced. The Birksgate, which arrived on Friday, January 4, brought one of ;the latest American improvements in •this particular line. Mr Hanser, the patentee of the machine, has come with it, and he will lose no time in gotting the combined reaper, winnower, and bagger at work. It is claimed for this machine that it is one of tho most valuable adjuncts to the farmer's stockmjtmde. In its operation it removes jH&toWHhe crop, then threshes Wnds, and at the same time cleans the grain and delivers it into bags before manual labor is required. Then it is only necessary to stitch up the Backs, and 1 as soon as three or four havo accumulated on a shifting platform tlio increased weight deposits them on the ground, thus leaving nothing' to be done but pick up the bagged wheat. Tho introduction of ■ this machine is somewhat late for this seaHon, but if it can accomplish all that is claimed for it, its advent will boa red-letter day for "farmers/
