CASTLEPOINT ROAD BOARD.
The usual meeting of the Board was held on Saturday last at Tinui. Present Messrs Mackay (Chairman), Langdon, Williams, Telford and Belliss, The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed, and the treasurer reported a balance in the Bank of £278 7s Bcl. Tho Finance Committee recommended the payment ■of accounts amounting to £lsl 2s 4d. ■.--. The Overseer's report was read and considered and the following letters were read : From Chief Surveyor stating that a road would lie surveyed to. part 1 of Section 865 by the Department. From' Mr Handyside, requesting lenvo of absence. From Mr Baker requesting to bo supplied with'a new boat for Aohanga Ferry. From Property Tax Department re rates for 1882-3. From Survey Office ro mep ef County. From Crown Lands Department stating that no funds are available to assist tho Board in making roads to land recently sold in this district. From Mr Stillborn calling attention to the state of the drain through his property,
From County Clerk re adjustment of Annedale property. From same re metalling portions of the main line.
From Masterton Road Board requesting payment of £BO on account of the Blairlogie road, From Mr W. A. Burling requesting that some repairs be done to the road near Woodlands.
It was resolved that the County Council bo requested to urge the contractor to proceed with the erection of Mangapakeha bridge forthwith, That a supplementary grant of £3O be made towards opening a dray road from Aohanga to Pangaroe, and that Mr Burlings request be granted, the amount not to exceed £22 provided he will have any timber required in doing the work. Tfcat Mr Baker bo informed that a boat will bo procured frbrfi Akitio, and that in future, the boat must be used for ferry purposes 0n1y,..' .;. Thit in reply to the MasWton Road Board relative to their claim of £7O expended on Blairlogie road a cheque for that amount will he fonvarded upon receiving an undertaking to keep tho road in repair to the 16th of July next, and that a cheque for £lO for duplicating culvert at Biscuit Creek bo paid forthwith.

That tho term having expired for which permission was given to keep gates on the various road lines in the district, fresh applications must be received otherwise they will be removed by the Board. Th.it the members of this Board together with any ratepayers who' may be interested, form a deputation to the Government to protest against the suspension of the County as being specially injurious to the interests, of this district,

EAST COUNTY COUNCIL. The Works Committee met yesterday, and tho following tenders were opened and dealt with : Ekctahuna-Tinui Road. —Contract No. 6, Bft span bridge-Accepted, M. McKcnzic, £548; declined, Arch. McLeod £55918s 6d, Reeso and Daw son £574. Tc Ore Ore-Bideford Road.—Contract No. 5,15 acres bush falling- ■ Accepted, Hans Petersen, £2B 10s; declined, G. Francis £4l ss, Boyden and Pinlayson £47 ss. Eketahuna-Tinui Road. Contract No. 7, 40ft span bridge—Accepted, .. Reese and Dawson, £224; declined, M. McKenzio £240, Arch, McLeod £251155. An application received from Mr A. McLeod for an extension of time on the Makakahi Road. contract was granted.
