THE STRENGTH OF PAPER.
One o£ tli6 wonderful things about paper is its 'strength. As an illustration of this, a note of the Bank of England, twisted . into a kind of rope, can suspend, as much- as 3291bs on one end of. it- and not' be injured in the . least,: Thero' is an articlo' made of paper in tlie shape of a' small kitchen or house truck on wheels, useil'for wheeling loada around tho, house,;. The sides and bottom of this are made of finely compressed paper, aud it is oapa: ble of bearing a weight of five tons. There are bath tubs and, pots made in the same manner, by compressing the paper made out of fine linen fibres, which is painted over with a composition which becomes a part of .tho paper, and is firo proof Tho tubs never leak, and they may be put on the fire and will not burn, It is impossible to break them, as you may beat them : with a hammer an'd not injure them in; the least.
