Tho Mastorton Fire Brigade held its usual practice last evening, when a fair attendance of members was present. They also reported that tho Oonforeuce had adopted a resolution that the aecrotary to that body ehould send a circulars to all Borough Councils, &c., asking them not to appoint Fire Inspectors outside tho Brigades. At the meeting ot stewards of the Tinui races hold at the Tinui Hotel on Saturday last a letter was road from Sir Clifton on behalf of Mr W. Six months ago Miss Dunne succeeded Miss Beat in the charge of this establishment, a lady who obtained for it a very high reputation, and wo are glad to find that in Miss Dunne's hands the prestige of the school has been maintained, and that it afiords these facilities for a superior education which are so rarely obtainable in the country towns of New Zealand.

We learn from tho Post that Mr T. W. Shuto, of Masterton. had a severe fall at the City Buffet Hotel about 2 o'clock yesterday morning and injured his neck. Ho was on his way to Taranaki, but lias been advised by a medical gentleman, whom lie consulted, to return to Mastortom
We regret to learn that Mr W. P. Fellinekm is hardly likely to recover from the operation which ho has recently undergone in Wellington. It appears that after a portion of his foot was removed it was deemed necessary to make turther amputations, Yesterday his state was so critical that tho members of his family in Mastorton were telegraphed for.
