. -MASTERTON-SATIJRDAY. [Before H. S. Wabdbh Esq; R.M.] Larceny. ' Charles May was charged with stealing an overcoat, the property'of J. Hawke, from Kibblewhitcs Temperance Hotel, on the ,15th instant. Tho evidence of prosecutor and an eye witness named Bayner was to the effect that, tho coat was taken from a rack in the passage about ten o'clock on the evening in question. Tho latter witness saw.a man take tho coat, but could not swear to accused being the man.
Miss Chamberlain,.of tho Prince of Wale's Hotel, saw accused with a coat on his arm about .9 o'clock in the evening. Was sure it was not as late as 10 o'clock—Dismissed. Unlawfully on Premises.
John Bums was charged with being unlawfully on tho premises of the Prince of Walo's Hotel. •
accused was found by the proprietor asleep on some hay in one of the sheds, at the rear of tho hotel at about 12 o'clock last night, His worship dwelt upon tho great danger to property, through this practice, and sentenced him to 48 hours imprisonment.
