LORD LORNE ON CANADA AND AUSTRALIA.

Lord Lome delivered ii long lecture at Birmingham on December sth on Canada and its products, He particularly praised the salubrity of the climate, and said that fevers which were too common in the United (States, were unknown within the boundaries of the Dominion. The area of Australia and Canada is so vast, the vertility of the soil so re iiuirkeble, and the rapid increase of their population so certain, that within the lifetime of children of gentlemen present their numbers will be equal to ours, and in another century they will be greatly superior to us in men p4 wealth. Our colonies give the foreigners an apparent advantage over us, It is still our policy to remain their closest allies.
