The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agoncy Company (Limited) have resumed their series of wool auctions after the holidays, The catalogue to-day comprised 4000 bales, the bulk consisting of small parcels of medium to inferior wools. There was a large attendance of buyers, and brisk competition was experienced. Choico and medium wools are in good demand, and prices are firmly maintained, Nearly all lots Hold at satisfactory prices, but owing to the length of the catalogue, parcels of scoured and fleece have been held ovor until tomorrow. The agricultural reporter of the Leader estimates tho yield of wheat in Victoria for tho present season at 14,900,000 bushels, being ail average of bushels to tho acre. Thequantity available for export is estimated at 8,150,000 bushels. ADELAIDE, January 3, The approximate revenue returns show a large falling off in the receipts from several sources. The customs duties, are expected to be £40,000 below the estimate, ALBANY.
January 3. Arrived, yesterday evening, in King [ George's Sound, P, andO. steamship Carthage with the inward mails via Suez and Brindisi, dated London, November 3. SYDNEY, January 3. Received January 4th, 1 p.m.—Adelaide wheat, ex store, 465; New Zealand, 38s 6d to 43s Cd, Adelaide flour, ex store, 82s. Australian tallow, best beef, 395; best mutton, 445. The stock in London amounts to 7000 oasks. The market rate of discount is now l\ per cent,, W below bank rate. SYDNEY, ■' - Friday. New South Wales revenue last quarter amounted to £1,860,000, being a decrease of £226,600 compared with the December quarter of 1882. The revenue for the year ended 31st uU. amounted to £6,480,000, a decrease of compared with that for 1882, During the year the revenue from land has decreased by .£1,040,000. MELBOURNE,' ' Friday.
