Daniel' O'Bouike won the Canterbury Derby and Cup in 187S, and is by Bledmere (imported) from Brunette (imported), who ia also dam of Tadmor, the Canterbury Derby winner of 1874. DANIEL O'OONNELL is a bay, stands over 16 hands, and if good shape, size, breeding, and performances, go for anything,, this son of Daniel O'Rourke should beget he led his field throughout in the Spring Maidon. and would have won tho County Plate immediately after but for a bad start; also at Opaki; where ho won the Railway Handicap, carrying Bst 101b, and then ran such a good second for the Opaki Handioap, carrying Bst 61b, were well-tested exhibitions of courage and stamina, which established his claim to bo not only a fast horso but an undeniably game Daniel O'Connel Istood the 1881 season at Kaikoura, Marlborough,- where he gave every satisfaction, proving himself a sure foal-getter; and immediately after. the season ended he was entered for and won tho Kaikoura County Cup, which his owner presented to tho Racing Club as a trophy to be run for by his stock when two years old. At Tauheronikau, won Wairarapa Stakes, 3 miles, beating Lara and Otupia, ho carrying 9st w.f.a, Ban second to his stable companion, Mufti, 6st Bibs, in the W. J.C. Handicap (this race he could have won easily had he been allowed). As a 5-year old at the Canterbury Metropolitan Meeting he won tho Free Handicap, carrying top weight, 9st, one mile, beating Foul Play, Camballo, Sinking Fund, Luna, Lara, ana others; time, lmin 46seo. Won the Railway Plato, weight for age, halfmile, and the Metropolitan Handicap, canying Bst 41b, 1J miles, having behind him Fish-hook, Ariel, Longlands, Natator, Bribery and others. As a 6-year old served at a stud.
