TAUERU.
(From our own Correspondent). As we cannot speak of presenting our pupils with prizes for passing the different standards, we havo the pleasure of reporting a very pleasant day spoilt with the children upon their breaking up for the holidays. Sports were indulged in and the different events were keenly contested by the children. Two of the eldei' ones, although resident inMasterton at present, were welcomed with pleasure, and their extraordinary jumping, for lads of their ago, deserve mention, Mr T, Thompson's son in tho running high jump succeeded in clearing four feet seven inches, and Master Willie Watson as near equal as possible. A plentiful supply of good things was provided. Mr Heron addressed the children, and Mrs H. Beetham presented the prizes, with a few kind and pleasant words to each, which the prizetakers seemed to think as much of as the prizes. Three cheers were called for Mr and Mrs Beetham and heartily responded to, as well as for visitors and the ladies, and after a most enjoyable day the little ones dispeised, each carrying home some trophy in remembrance of their first school treat.
