AmiCATIONS. _ Mr J. Pike waited on the Board w|th a view to get a side cutting made at cutting; He was requested to mako his application in writing, aa it might be necessary'to refer it to the Taratahi-Oarterton Board In whose district the cutting referred to was situated. MrE.O.-.Hood applied to the Board with reference to a road leading to his property.' He stated that during the last seven years his rates had been raised from £2O to £3315s a year, and as he had no road to his property would like to know what the extra money was paid for. He understood tho Oastlepoint Board had promised £4O towards making the road, and as thore was a credit balance due to the ward lie thought something might be done. The Chairman informed Mr Hood that a conference was to take place between the two Boards, as there was tome arbitration to he done on tho work in question, and ho thought it would be bad taste and policy to forestall the conferenoo. Mr Beetham dwelt upon the injustice to the Masterton Board of the Rowland and Upper Taueru districts being in the Oastlepoint Board, when a considerable amount of monoy had been expended by the former board, and now the latter board took the rates.
Mr Hood agreed that there had been a: large amount spent on the Upper Taueru road, but his property was previously in No 1 ward, and by some extraordinary arrangement they were put in No 2 ward although there was a petition siguod every settler up there to have a new wawljr At present lie waa subject to great loB«ei^ r through the traffio going through hit crops, and ho wished to know whether the Board intended to grant any rnonej : towards the road, He would like a straightforward answer at once, Be did not think the Board should look at past expenditures, but at the future. Mr Dagg said he would like to bow what would recoup the Board for (ha past outlay if it was ignored by them. . The Ohairmsn stated that he hid not been able to bring about the conference yet, and till it met it was impossible to do anything in the matter. It was eventually deoided that a return . be prepared and laid npon the table of all monies spent on the Upper. Taueru road, and amount of money due to other portions of the distrlot by that ward. Mr Donavon waited on the Board and qbM them the reason why tbey bad not opened up the road through Mr Bikini' property.
