TENUI RACES.
A meeting of the Tinui Race stewards was held at the Tinui Hotel oh Saturday last. Present—Messrs Walker, Chamberlain, W, Smith, Sheath, J, Di'ummond,Hoinie, Perry, and Mackay, Mr Mackay was appointod chairman, It was resolved that five stewards form a quorum for the transaction of business; that Mr Walker be authorised to sign cheques in conjunction/' with the treasurer; that the races bA held on Thursday and Friday, 6th an A, 7th of March. ' 4 Correspondence was read from C. R, Miller declining to act as a steward, from A. R, McFarlane re totalisator, and from B. Kimberley accepting the position of handicapper. Resolved that the secretary write to Mr McFarlane and inform him that the stewards agree to accept his terms re totalisator, except that they would not guarantee to take it on to the course and back safely, but would usoall duo care and that a good road willl bo made on to the course, That last year's programme be adhered to, with the exception of Rabbiters 1 and Station hands' Race, this race to be open to all working men who have been employed in the district three months previous to the date of races and who havo owned the horso entered for a similar period, and that in lieu of a Consolation Raco thoro be a Forced Handicap. That Mr Kimberley be paid £5 for his services as handicapper, and that Mr R. R. Armstrong be asked to perform the duties of secretary on the race dayb at the same remuneration as last year. That nominations for all handicaps close at the Tinui Hotel on Tuesday, 19th February, at 7 p.m., and that a penalty of 71bs be carried by the winner of any maiden plate after entry for these races,
That weights will be declared for handicaps (except Forced Handicap, which will be declared on the course after the District Handicap is run) at the Club Hotel, Masterton, on Saturday, February 23rd, at 9.30 p.m,, and published in the local papers on the 25th February. That acceptances and general entries close on Friday, 29th February. That Messrs Walker, Perry, CEamberlain, Taylor, and th'o secrelaty bo appointed a committee to examine the course and to meet for thai purpose CD 26th inst.
