SAN FEANCISCO, November 26. Fifty cuttle and sheep brought from Now Zealand on the last trip on the City of Sydney were quarantined for ninety days on arriving at San Francisco, the time dating from when they were placed on board the steamer.
A London dispatch of tho 20th says the Queen's health is improving, but from the effects of her la te accident she is still unable to walk for more than ut few minutes at a time, but it is still impossible for her to walk up or down stairs, Her Majesty left Balmoral for Windsor on the date mentioned, closely guarded by special police all the route. At Windsor and Slouch there were large detachments to guard the arches,
After her Majesty's arrival at the Castle on the 22nd, a tiro occured in a bootmaker's shop at Windsor, near the Castlo wall, towards which the wind blew the flaming sparks, and a slight ignition took place on tbe roof of St. George's Chapel, but was soon extinguished. This affair gave rise to the wildest rumors, one of which wa3 that the Queen's appartment had been blown up shortly after she retired to rest. Her Majesty was in a state of nervous excitement, and manifested great anxiety as to the condition, of tho royal fire engines, and the men attached to the Eoyal Fire Brigade, Several of tho London nowspapers recently published articles suggesting the establishment in New York of homes for the reception of English girls who emigrate with the intention of becoming domestics. English ladies have expressed their willingness to organise a system of selection and send a continuous supply of well-qualified girls'.

An explosion took place in Moorsfield Colliery, Lancaster, on 7th November. Betwoen 60 and 70 miners were killed, and there were 110 in the colliery at the time.
