DANIEL O'CONNELL is a bay, stands over lf> hands, and if good shapes size; breeding, and performances, go for anything, this son of Daniel O'Kourko should beget the olass of horse required in the Wairarapa, His performances at Tauherenikau, where he led his field throughout in the, Spring Maiden, and would havo won the County Plate imniediateiy after but for a bad start; also at Opaki, where he woii the Railway Handicap, carrying Bst 101b, and then ran such a good second for the Opaki Handicap, carrying Bst Gib, were well-tested exhibitions his claim to be not only a fast horao but an undeniably game one. Daniel O'Connell stood tho 1881 season at Kaikoura, Marlborough, where he gave every satisfaction, proving himself a sun foal-gotter; and immediately after the season endod he was entered for and won the Kaikoura County Cup, which his owner presented to tho Racing Club as a trophy to be run for by his stock when two years old. Thirteen of bis foals were entered for this race; and lam informed on undeniable authority, that his stock cannot bo purchased under high prices there. Handicap, carrying top weight. At Ashburton he won the Cup, carrying top weight. At the Canterbury Metropolitan Meeting, carrying Bst 71bs, ran third in the 0.J.0., Handicap, won b/ Mata, Gst 51b; Ariel, 5 years, Bat 101b, second. P.an second to Tump Card, for the O.C. Plate, after a .desperate .race of two miles, giving him il9lbs; time, 3min, 44sec. At Tauherenikau, won Wairarapa States, 3 miles, beating Lara and Otupia, he carrying 9sfc w.f.a. Ran second to his stable companion, Mufti, 6st Bibs, in the W, J.C. Handicap (tins race he could have won easily had he been allowed). As a 5-year old at the Canterbury Metropolitan Meeting he won the Free Handicap, carrying top weight, 9st, one mile, beating Foul Play, Camballo, Sinking Fund, Luna, Lara, and others; time, lmin 468e0. Won the Railway Plate, weight for age, halfmile, and the Metropolitan Handicap, carrying Bst 41b, !§_ mileß, having behind him Fish-hook, Ariel, Longlands, Natator, Bribery and others. As a 6-year old served at a stud. As a 7-year old (and while performing stud duties) he won the.
