COUNTY SETTLERS' ASSOCIATION.

A meeting of delegates ivas held at the Institute yesterday afternoon Present—Messrs K, 8. Hawkins,/*, Meredith, Lowes, Herbert, Holral, Dagg,andW.B,Buick, . v The first business was the formation of a Farmers' Club. The following resolutions were agreed to:—(1). That tho members of the Association .'constitute a Farmers' Club; (2).-That tht meeting of the Farmers' Club be held monthly after the meetings of the Association; (3). That the ordinary business of the Association at its monthly meetings be limited to one hour; (4). That when the Association is so constituted a Farmers' Club, no political question shall be discussed; (5). That the objects of the Association and Farmers' Club bo to promote dig. cussion on subjects connected with pastoral and agricultural pursuits, the breeding and general management of stock, tho increase and improvement of produce from land; (6). the encouragement of local industries, planting and cultivation of trees, and construction of farm buildings, the use and improvel ment of agricultural implements, and the question of tho markets for the disposal of produce; (7), That each meeting when resolved into a Farmers' Club shall appoint its own Chairman, and may appoint its own committees, It was resolved to bring the following matters bofore the Association at its next meeting :-(l). That the grant of poor relief by tho County Council bo discussed by the Association; (2). That the lovy by a general rate over the whole of this county of monoys chasgeablo on special districts for special work is unjust, inasmuch as the parties interested only were permitted to rote for these spdeial works. MrE. Meredith gave notice to move the foregoing resolutions. The consideration of the Waste Lands Administration was deferred to another meeting.
