VOLUNTEERS.

The annual muster and inspection parade of the Masterton Volunteers tookplnce in the Theatre Royal last evening, forty members answering to the muster roll, Captain Donald in command. After Majors Bunny and Butts _ had inspected tho Company, Sergeant-Major Bezar gave the men a good drilling in the manual exercises, and Lieut -Williams in the platoon and bayonet exercises. Major Bunny expressed himself highly pleased with the good muster of the corps, especially as it was the busy time of the year, and numbers were away shearing, and complimented them on their clean and orderly appearance, and the general condition of their arms and accoutrements. Ho notified that a special meeting would bo held at Greytown on Saturday 22nd inst., to enable those members who had been unable to do so, to attend and complete the number of attendances to qualify them for capitation, free passes on tho railway would be issued to those attending. The Major informed the corps that he would call a meeting at Carterton on Saturday 15th inst,, of the officers and members of of the various Wakarapa companies, and all persons interested, for the purpose of forming a Wairarapa Rifle Association, Corporal Anketell was presented with a silver cup won by him in the company, compotitiou, A judging distance practice will be held to-morrow, when Sergt. Bezar will be in attendance. It is necessary that all members should be present to qualify themselves for capitation.
