THE LONDON ARCADE.

Mi- C. W.Goodson, a gentleman who has during the past few mouths established places of business, which he has been pleased to term London Arcades, in Auckland and Christchurch, and on Saturday evening last opeued a branch place of business in connection with the parent concern at St Mary-Axe, London, in Cuba-sfc-fc, Wellington! The articles for sale at ;!ie Cuba-street establishment are really 'lewildering in their endless variety,' The counters and shelves are heavily laden with almost every conceivable article of convenience, necessity and luxury, and as all the goods range from the unconsidered sixpence and the nimble shilling to corresponding pounds and guineas in price, every taste and the extent of every pocket has been gauged. The place w»s brilliantly lighted, and both the principal and his very courteous malo and female assistants at once put tliß visitors at llieir ease. Mr Goodson appears pleased to receive visitors, none of whom, however, are pestered to become purchasers, Every conceivable article required in a house is to bo obtained in the Arcade, and the workshops of England and the Continent have evidently been ransacked to supply patrons with the best of goods at a low figuro, Every article appears to be judiciously displayed, and everybody's means appear to liavo been consulted. At present the London Arcade will have its habitat in a portion of Mr Farmer's furniture establishment, Cuba-street; but in February next the Arcade will be removed to tho largo business premises at present occupied by Messrs McDowell and Co., Lambton-quay and Willis-street.. Mr Goodson's motto would appear to be" small profits and quick returns,"—Times. -
