DANIEL O'CONNELL is a bay, staads over 16 hands, and if good shape, size, breeding, and performances, go for anything, this son of Daniel O'Eourko should beget tho olass of horse required in the Wairarapa. His performances at Taubercuikau, where he led his field throughout in the Spring Maiden, and would have won tho County Plate immediately after but for a bad start; also at Opaki, where he won tho Bailway Handicap, carrying Bst 101b, and then ran suoh a good second for the Opaki Handicap, earryiug Bst Clb, were well-tested exhibitions of courage and stamina, which established his claim to bo not only a fast horsi but an undeniably gamo one, Daniel O'Connell stood tho 1881 season at Kaikourj, Marlborough, where ho gave every satisfaction, proving himself a sure foal-getter; and immediately after the season ended ho was entered fo: and won the Kaikoura County Cup, which his owner presented to tho Racing Club as a trophy to be run for by his stock wheu two years old. Thirteen of his foals were entered for this race; and I am informed on undatable authority, that his stock cannot be purchased under high prices thore. Daniel O'Connell will travel from Whakataki to Masterton. Ban second to Gny Fawkes for tho Canterbury Cup, weight for age, two and a-quarter miles. The following day he carried 71bs penalty, and won the Chrisdchurch Plate, two miles, weight for age, beating Templeton, Dead Heat, and others; time, 3min 44sco. At Aucklaid, ran second to Perfume for the Racine Club Handicap, giving him two years ana 101k Won Auckland Derby, aud ran second to Ariel for tho Auckland Cup—Ariel, 4 years. Sat 21bs; Danebury, 3 years, 7st 121bs. At tho Dunedin Autumn Meeting, ran second for tho Derby, having behind him Fallacy, Bribory, Hippocampus, and several others. As a 4 year old, carrying top weight, won the Waitaki Cup, County Plate, J.C. Handicap, and Champagne Stakes, welter weight for ago. At Geraldine he won the Cup and J,C, Handicap, carrying top weight. At Ashburton he won the Cup,' earryiug top weight. At the Canterbury Metropolitan Meeting, earryiug Bst 71bs, ran third iu the C.J.C, Handicap, won b/Mata, Csfc 51b; Ariel, 5 years, Bst 101b, second. Eau second to Tump Card, for the C.C. Plate, after a desperate race of two miles, giving him l!)lbs; time, 3min, 44sec, At Tauherenikau, won Wairarapa Stakes, 3 miles, beating Lara and Otupia, he carrying 'Jst w.f.a, Ban second to his stable companion, Mufti, Gst filbs, in tho W.J.C. Handicap (this race he could h?.vo won easily had ho been allowed), As a 5-year old at the Canterbury Metropolitan Meeting he won the Free Handicap, carrying lop weight, 9st, ono mile, beating Foul Play, Camballo, Sinking Fund, Luna, Lara, and others; time, lmin 46scc. Wen the Railway Plato, weight for ago, halfmilo, and the Metropolitan Handicap, carrying Bsfc 41b, 1J miles, having behind him Fish-book, Ariel, Longlauds, Natator, Bribery and others. As a G-year old served at a stud. As a 7-year old (and while performing stud duties) he won tho Lyell's Bay Cup, carrying flat 121b, l\ miles, and the Wairarapa Jockey Club Handicap, 2 miles, oarrying 7st lOlbs, in a canter.
