GREYTOWN—TUESDAY, (Before H, S, Wardell, R.M., S, Revans, J.P., and P. H. Wood, J.P.) Maria Haxton v, John Haxton.— ■ Assault. The evidonce of the complainant ' went to bKow that on the 11th inst., ,k defendant assaulted his wife by. striking ' hsr about the body with a hammer. Dr Spratt was called and described the injuries inflicted. : . Defendant was sentenced to two ' months hard labor, and ordered to enter into a recognizance with two sureties of •£2O each to keop the peace for six months.

An application was made by com plainant for a protection and maintenance order which were granted, defendant being ordered to contribute 12s a week for the support of his wife. Fabian Bros, r John A. Jury— Re-hearing, £B9 Is Bd. Mr Gray,for plaintiffs, Mr Bunnyfor defendant.' This case occupied the court some hours. The claim was for a store debt of £l4 Is 8d and for the grazing of horses, (fee., with interest at ten per cent, the interest extending over a long period and being calculated as compound interest, Judgment \vg_s given for.i>lß lis <kl and costs. * Charles A. Watson v Eangitakiwaho.—Claim for fish supplied £ls 8s 2d. Mr Gray for plaintiff, Mr Bunny for defendant. Evidence was called to prove delivery of a large quantity of fish. Defendant disputed the quantity supplied and pleaded payment in full for that received. The court nonsuited the plaintiff with costs. , \ ' Several other cases were settled out* of court.
