We regret that the demands on our spuco compel us to considerably condense it, but hope lo givo it \\\ou fully to our Mm on another occasion. Of the opinions expressed by Mr Hawkins we shall aay something in another Issue, but irrespective of them, we cannot lot such a speech pais without recognising its power and ability,
The adjmirneil meeting of the District Court falls duo to-morrow, but it will be again postponed till Ist December. A Manawatu paper says that in the event of an election for Manawatu, the probable candidates will bo Sir William Fox, Mr D. H. Macarthur, and Mr John Ballance. Tho last church concert of the season comes off in tho Theatre ltoyal this evening, when an excellent programme and moderate prices fur admisaion ought to [ attract a large audience. The second squad of the Greytown -Rifles will assemble at the Town Hall, Greytown, on Saturday morning at 8 a.m. to proceed to Hid butts for class firing. A Maori Haka was hold at the Foresters' Hall, Greytown, on Tuesday evening, at which a large muster were Went. Anothor on a larger scale will be held to-night, when a charge of 2s will be mode, ( An extraordinary vaaanoy has occurred in tho Greytown Borough Council through the retiring of Or Gray. Tho election for a new member is fixed for the 29th inst., the day after the Mayoral election. The promoters:of the Tinui races are lo be congratulated on the past management of their affairs. The usual monthly meeting of the Groglown School Comiltoo was held on Tuesday «vening. Present-Messrs Gray (Chairman) Wood, Bey, Nation, and Black.
