Daniel O'Rourkc won the Canterbury Derby and Cup in 1875, and is by Slcdmcrc (imported) from Brnnctto (imported), who ii also dam of Tadmor, tho Canterbury Derby winner of 1874. DANIEL O'CONNELL is a bay, stands over lfi hands, and if good shape, size, breeding, and performances, go for anything, this son of Daniel O'Rourko should beget tho class of horse required in tho Wairarapa. His performances at Tauherenikau, wltero he led his field throughout in the Spring Maiden, aud would have won the County Plato immediately after but for a bad start; alio at Opaki, where he won the Railway Handicap, carrying Bst 101b, and then ran inch a good second for tho Opaki Handicap, carrying Bst 61b, were well-tested exhibitions of courngo and stamina, which established bit claim to bo not only a fast horso but an undeniably game one, Daniel O'Connell stood the 1881 season at Kaikoura, Marlborough, where he gave ercry satisfaction, proving himself a sure foal-gottcr; and immediately after the seaton ended ho was entered for and won tho Kaikoura County Cup, which bis owner presented to tho Racing Club as a trophy to be run for by his stock when two years old. At Auckland, ran Becond to Perfume for tho Racing Club Handicap, giving him two years nndlOlbs. As a 4 year old, carrying top weight,won the Waitaki Cup, County Plate, J.C. Handicap, and Champagne Stakes, welterweight for age. At Geraldine ho won the Cup and J,O, Handicap, carrying top weight. At Ashburton ho won the Clip, carrying top • eight, At tho Canterbury Metropolitan Meeting, carrying Bst 71bs, ran third in the C.J.C, Handicap, won b/Mata, 63t 51b; Ariel, 6 years, Bst 101b, second. Ran second to Tump Card, for the C.C. Plato, after a desjperata race of two miles, giving him Wlbj; time, 3min, 44scc, At Tauherenikau, won Wairarapa Stakes, 3 miles, beating Lara and Otupia, he carrying 9st w.f.a. Ran second to hiß stablo companion, Mufti, Gst flb>, in tho W.J,C. Handicap (this race he eouldhavowon easily had he been allowed). As a 5-year old at the Canterbury Metropolitan Meeting he won the Frco Handicap, tarrying lop weight, 9st, ono mile, beating Foul Play, Camballo, Sinking Fund, Luna, Lara, and others; time, lmin 4Csec, Won tho Railway Plate, weight for ago, halfmile, and the l.otropolitan Handicap,carrying Brt 41b, 1J miles, having behind him Fish-hook, Ariel, Longlauds, Natator, Bribery and othora. Ab a 0-year old served at a stud.
