D ESTRUCTIYE LIGHTNING.
j, ;The { Petersbiirger Zeitung reports the destructive action of a flash of lightning, which struck ; tha, stable attached to the cavalry'officers' school, at ,Krasnoje-Selo, killing sixteen horses' on the spot. Hie electic fluid, on striking; the corner of the building seems to have travelled along ithe iron with which the' racks "were covered, and set all the hay on fivei The horses all fell to the ground. 1 Most of them rose again quickly ; but sixteen were found to bo dead, and two were quite deaf. In all the horses that were killed, the electric fluid seems to have entered at the head or the neck, passing down through the fore feet. The killed horses wore not altogether, or in udjoining stalls, bnt were scattered up and down the stable, justifying tho presumption that their death was caused by their coming into contact with the metallic covering of the racks. The horses which survived were most probably not in- coutact.with the metal at the moment when it was being traversed by the electric fluid.
