CRAB RACING.
The French certainly are an interesting race. Crab racing is thelatestnoYelty, It is quite a ladies' sport, and forms the morning's entertainment in the leau monde on tlia sands of Dieppe and Trouville. The' rules of the game are conducted on strictly racing principles. Each crab has a seal impressed on his back, with the owners' crest showing. A winning post is fixed by the edge of tho sea and the crabs are started. There is a starter and an umpire, Many of the crabs disappear into space, but one or two are sure in the end to reach the post, The crabs are all named, and we believe the ones that are the fastest runners or walkers —we do not know which to call them —are kept to run in fresh races, and beat other less experienced crabs. Imagine what a tale those crabs who escape into the sea again must have to fell, and what an object of curiosity the crab with the seal on his back must be to the lobster and the crayfish. We wonder what the next fad will be, Perhaps a tournament of crabs and lobsters, or a grand assault' of arms among the Bhrimps and prawns.
