DANIEL O'CONNELL is a bay, stands over IB bands, and if good shape, size, breeding, and performances, go for anything, this son of Daniel O'Rourko should beget the class ol horse required in tho "SYairarnpa. His performances at Tauherenikau, whero ho led his field throughout in tho Spring Maiden, aud would have won the County Plate immediateiy after but for a bad start; also »t Opaki, where he won the Railway Handicap, carrying Bst 101b, and thou ran such a good second for tho Opaki Handicap, carrying Bst Clb, were well-tested exhibitions of courage and stamina, which established his claim to be not only a fast horse but an undeniably game one, Daniel O'Connell stood the 1881 season at Kaikonra, Marlborough, where ho gave «vwy satisfaction, proving himself a euro foal-gitter; and immediately'after the leason ended he was entered for and won tho Kitikoura County Cup, which his owner presented to the Racing Club as a trophy to bo run for by his stock when two years old. Thirteen of his foals were entered for this race; and I am informed : on undeniable authority, that his stock cannot be purchased under high prices there, Daniel O'Connell will travel from Wliakataki to Masterton. It ifl needless to do moro than mention bis name, as he is also tho sire of somo of the best racehorses over bred in the Southorn Hemisphere, viz., Lurline (dam of that wonderful horse Datebin) Calumny, Lc Loup, Fishhook, Templelon, Maritana, Bribery, Natator, Betrayer, Sir Modred, Welcome Jack, and a host of others too numerous to mention, Ada's dam Princess is also dam of Glaucup, Potentate, Symphony (dam of Lacinfeed), Cassandra, (dam of Opera), winner of Canterbury Derby, and dam of that good horse Tambourine, and Discretion, who in her turn is dam of those two sterling horses Resolution and Hailstorm, winner of the Wauganui Cup of 1882, Coupled with the above, Danebury bin. self, haß been a great performer on the Turf, having won at all distances and under heavy Weights, beating such horses as Guy Fawks, Tsmpleton, Fishhook, Maritana, Bribery, Long Lands, Laertes, Camballo, Foul Play, Larn, Hippocampus, Luna, Fc, Periobsunoks,—Asa 2-year old he won the Canterbury Champagne Stakes, aud ran iccond to Guy Fawkea for tho Railway Plate. As a three-year old at .the Canterbury Metropolitan Meeting he won the Railway Plate, weight for age, half-mile, Guy Fawkes second, Ran second to Guy Fawkes for the Canterbury Cup, weight for #gc, two and a-quarter miles, The following day he carried 71bs penalty, and won the Chriptchnrch Plate, two miles, weight for age, beating Templeton, Dead Hoat, aud others; time, 3inin 44sec. At Auckland, ran second to Perfumo for tho Racing Club Handicap, giving bim two years and lOlbs. Won Auckland Derby, aud ran second to Ariel for tho Auckland Cup-Ariel, 4 years, Bst 21bn j Danebury, 3 years, 7st 121bs, At the Dunedin Autumn Sleeting, ran second for the Derby, having behind him Fallacy, Bribery, Hippocampus, and soveral others, Ab a 4 year old, carrying top weight, won the Waitaki Cup, County Plate, J.C. Handicap, nnd Champagne Stakes, welter woight for ago, At Geraldine ho won the Cup and J.C. Handicap, carrying top weight. At Aehburton he won tho Cup, carrying top *■ eight. At tho Canterbury Metropolitan Meeting, carrying Bst 71bs, ran third in the C.J.C, Handicap, won b/Mata, Gat 51b; Ariel, 5 years, Bst 101b, second. Ran second to Tump Card, for the C.C, Hate, after a desperate raco of two miles, giving him lfllbs; timo, 3min, 44sec, At Tauherenikau, won Wairarapa Stakes, 3 miles, beating Lara and Otupia, ho carrying 9st w.f.a. Ran second to his stable companion, Mufti, Cst Bibs, in the W.J.C. Handicap (this race lie eould kvejwon easily had he been allowed), Aa a5-ycar old at tho Canterbury Metropolitan Meeting he won the Freo Handicap, carrying lop weight, 9st, one. mile, beating Foul Play, Camballo, Sinking Fund, Luna, Lara, and others; time, lmin 46sec.
