Daniel O'Eourke won the Canterbury Derby and Cup in 1875, nud is by Slcdmcre (imported) from Bruuotto (imported), who. is also dam of Tadmor, tho Canterbury Derby winner of 1874. DANIEL O'CONNELL is a bay, stands over lfi hands, and if good shapo, size, breeding, and performances, go for anything, this sou of Daniel O'Eourke should beget the class of horse required in the Wairarapa. His performances at Tauhercnikau, whore ho led his field throughout in tho Spring Maiden, and would have wou tho County Plato immediately after but for a bad start; also at Opaki, whero ho won the Railway Handicap, carrying Bst 101b, and then ran such a good second for tho Opaki Handicap, carrying Bst Gib, were well-tested exhibitions of courage and stamina, which established his claim to bo not only a fast horso but an undeniably gamo one. Daniel O'Conuell stood the 1881 season at Kaikoura, Marlborough, whero he gavo every satisfaction, proving himself a sure foal-gettcr; and immediately after tho season ended he was entered for and won tho Kaikoura County Cup, which his owner presented to tho Racing Club as a trophy to be run for by his stock when two years old. Thirteen of his foals were entered for this race; and lam informed'on undeniable authority, that his stock cannot be purchased under high prices there. Ran second to Guy Fawkes for the Canterbury Cup, weight for age, two and a-quartor miles. The following day he carried 71bs peualty, and won the Cbri'tchureh Plate, two miles, weight for age, beating Templeton, Dead Heat, and others; time, 3miu 44soc. At Auckland, ran second to Perfume for tho Racing Club Handicap, giving him two years and lOlbs. Won Auckbnd Derby, and ran second to Ariel for tho Auckland Cup—Ariel, 4 years. Bat 21bs; Danebury, 3 years, 7st 121bs. At the Dunedin Autumn Meeting, ran second for the Derby, having behind him Fallacy, Bribery, Hippocampus, and several others. As a 4 year old, carrying top weight, won the Waitaki Cup, County Plate, J.C. Handicap, and Champagne Stakes, welter weight for age. At Geraldino ho won the Cup and J,C. Handicap, carrying top weight. ' At Ashburton lie won the Cup, carrying top weight. At the Canterbury Metropolitan Meeting, carrying Sat 71bs, ran third in the C.J.C, Handicap, woubyMata, Cat 51b; Ariel, 5 years, Bst 101b, second, Ran second to Trump Card, for the C.C. Plate, after a desperate raco of two miles, giving him lfjlbs; time, 3min, 44sec, At Tauherenikau, won Wairarapa Stakes, 3 miles, beating Laia and Otupia, he carrying Oat w.f.a. Ran sccond'tn bis stable companion, Mufti, 6st Bibs, in tho W.J.C. Handicap (this race be could have wou easily had ho been allowed). As a 5-year old at the Canterbury Metropolitan Meeting ho won the Free Handicap, carrying top weight, 9st, one mile, beating Foul Play, Camballo, Sinking Fund, Luna, Lara, and others; time, lmin 4Gsec. Won tho Railway Plate, weight for age, halfmile, and the Jietropolitan Handicap,carrying Bst 41b, 1£ miles, having behind him Fish-hook, Ariel, Longlandß, Natator, Bribery and others. As a 6-year old served at a stud. As a 7-year old (and while performing stud duties) ho won tho Lyell's Bay Cup, carrying 9st 121b, 1$ miles, and the Wairarapa Jockey Ckb Handicap, 2 miles, carrying 7st lOlbs, in a canter, Time 3min, 39sec, It will bo seen from Danebury's great perfamtances that he could beat the flyers for a mile, and stay any distance under big weights.
