GREYTOWN HOTRTICULTURAL SOCIETY.
A meeting of the Committee of the Greytown Horticultural Society, wag held at the Council Chambers on Saturday evening, The minutes of the previous nieoting were read and confirmed. It was resolved that the following gentlemon bo asked to act as judges at the Show to be held on Thursday December 6th:—Messrs Mason (Hutt), McShano, Matthews, and Spearink (Featherston), Everitt, Beard, and McLeod (Masterton), Rossotter (Carterton), and Mesdames Tully, Wood, and Western, to judge noedlework and fancy work, Messrs Wood, Porritt, Nation, and St, George, were appointed stagers to be assisted by members of the Committee, Mr Barratt was asked and consented to supply the usual refreshments for judges and band. It was resolved to ask the Greytown Private Brass Band and tho String Band to assist during the Show. Mr Brooks was appointed doorkeeper. Mr Wood was asked to interview some young ladies and endeavor to enlist'thoir services in disposing of boquets during the show. The question of a floral grotto was also discussed and favorably entertained. The chairman and Secretary undertook to canvas for special prizes. The following are already offered :-Bev T. Western I2s 6d, for best model of a garden; Dr Bey, 7s Gd for best six lottuces; Mr [ Hillycr, silver set broach and earrings for best specimen of raw silk; Mi\
Nation, 7s 6d for second prize for model of a garden ; Mr Wood, 5s each for best plate of strawberries and best fuchsia; Mrßarratt, 3s each for best round potatoes and best peas; Mr Webster, 5s each for best twelve roses and best two cucumbers.
