THE FRIENDLY SOCIETIES AND GOVERNMENT INSURANCE.
To the Editor. Sir,—At at a meeting of delegates from Friendly Societies in Masterton I notice that one reason set forth for urging the repeal of the Friendly Societies Act is as follows: "Because the complete failure of tho Government Industrial Branch shows the incompetence of Government acturies to deal with the principles upon which the operations of Friendly' Societies are based." To prevent any misconception, allow me to state that the business of the Industrial Branch is merely being confined to the larger centres of population, so that tho assumed "failure," instead of being complete, is purely imaginary, I am, etc., J, Baggie, Postmaster.
