MKLBOUNE, October 20. Received October 21, 10.30 a.m.— The Victoria Amateur Turf Club held its second day's racing at Canlfield to-day. For'the Caulfield Cup the following 25 horses started:—Sir Modred, The Gem, Sardonyx, Frying Pan,, Boolka, Stpckdale, Nicholas, Calma, Yately, Anglesey, Footstep,Malua, Belmont, The Joker, Squireen,' Dukedom, Sparke, Prodigal, Josephine, Kohinoor, Westbury, Kathleen Mavoumeen, Tabletop, Norfolk, The Kiug's Son. A good start was effected. Footstep was the first to get away,' The King's Son and Frying Pan following, The Gem last, Footstep continued to lead passing the stand the first time, but was overtaken at the first turn hy Prodigal, who lend the field at the other side of the course, followed by Frying Pan, Yately, Squireen and Calma. At the home turn Yately was leading, with the. Joker well up, Frying Pan then came to the front, and lead as they entered the straight, but Calma was well up at this point, looking dangerous, and finally came up with a rush, and without being pushed, won easily by a length. Stockdale came in and Anglesey third. Time—2inin 42secs. The race was a good one throughout; the weather splendid, and tho attendance enormous.'• MELBOURNE,
