Daniel O'Rourke won the Canterbury Derby and Cup in 1875, and is by Sledmcre (imported) from Brunette (imported), who is also dam of Tadmor, the Canterbury Dorby winner of 1874, DANIEL O'CONNELL is a bay, stands over IB hands, and if good shape, size, breeding, and performances, go for anything, this son of Daniel O'Eonrko should beget the class of horse required in the Wairarapa, His performances at Tauhercnikau, where he led his field throughout in the Spring Maiden, aud would have won the County Plate immediateiy alter but for a bad start; also at Opaki, where ho won the Bailway Handicap, carrying Bst 101b, and then ran such a goid second for the Opaki Handicap, carrying BstGlb, were well-tested exhibitions of courage and stamina, which established his claim to be not only a fast horse but an undeniably game one, ■ Daniel O'Connell stood the 1881 season at Kaikoura, Marlborough, whero ho gave every satisfaction, proving himself a sure foal-getter; and immediately after the' season ended lie was entered for and won the Kaikoura County Cup, which his owner presented to the Racing Club as a trophy to be run for by his stock when two years old, Thirteen of his foals were entered for this race; and lam informed on undeniable authority, that his stock cannot be purchased under high prices there,. Danebury, DANEBURY is owu brother to .Adamant, winner of the last Dunedin Cup, in th« fastest time that has yet been recorded, viz, 3 minutes 54 seconds by the far-famed sire Traducer, dam Ada (winner of tho Canterbury Derby), by St. Aubyn (sire of Toitoi, Harakeke, and Una, dams of Kakapo, Harnby, Korari, Perfume, Ariel, Ac.,) granddam Princess, by Gratis (sire of Dinah), dam of that wonderful mare Musidora, who produced amongst others tho following noted horses:—Miss Jessie (winner Y.K.O, Derby) Sea Spray (winners V.O.R, and S.A.J.C, StLegers(, Bresis (winner V.R.O. Derby, Oaks, and Melbourne Cup) and South Hamilton (winner V.R.0.2 year old stakes.) Ban second to Guy Fawkes for tho Canterbury Cup, weight for age, two and a-quarter miles, The followiug day he carried 71bs penalty, and won the Chriftchurch Plate, two miles, weight for age, beating Templeton, Dead Heat, aud others; time, 3min 44sec, At Auckland, ran second to Perfume for the Racing Club Handicap, giving him two years and lOlbs. Won Auckland Derby, aud ran second to Ariel for the Auckland Cup—Ariel, 4 years, Bst 21bs; Danebury, 3 years, 7st 121bs, At the Dunedin Autumn Meeting, ran second for the Derby, having behind him Fallaoy, Bribery, Hippocampus, and several others. As a I year old, carrying top weight, won the Waitaki Cup, Countr Plate, J.C, Handicap, and Champagne Stakes, welterweight for ago. At Geraldino he won the Cup and J,C. Handicap, carrying top weight. At Ashburton he won the Cup, carrying top weight. At the Canterbury Metropolitan Meeting, carrying Bst 71bs, ran third in the 0.J.0. Handioap, won byMata, 6st 51b; Ariel, 5 years, Bst 101b, second. Ran second to Trump Card, for the CO. Plate, after a desperate race of two miles, giving him 191bs; time, 3min, 44sec, At Tauherenikau, won Wairarapa Stakes, 3 miles, beating Lara and Otupia, he carrying 9st w,f.a, Ran second to his stable companion, Mufti, 6st Bibs, in the W.J.C. Handicap (this race he could have won easily had he been allowed). As a 5-year old at the Canterbury Metropolitan Meeting he won the Free Handicap, carrying top weight, 9st, one mile, beating Foul Play, Oamballo, Sinking Fund, Lnna, Lara, and others; time, lmin 46seo, Won the Railway Plate, weight for age, halfmile, and the Metropolitan Handicap, carrying Bst 41b, 1$ miles, having behind him Fish-hook, Ariel, Longlands, Natator, Bribery and others. As a 6-year old served at a stud, Asa 7-year old (and while performing stud duties) he won the Lyell's Bay Cup, carrying Oat 121b, 1J miles, and the Wairarapa Jookoy Ckb Handicap, 2 miles, carrying 7st lOlbs, in a canter. Time 3min. 39seo, It will be seen from Danebury's great perfarmauces that he could beat the .flyers for a mile, and stay any distance under big weights.
