A Parliamentary paper has been issued, showing the actual expenditure for the English naval service (excluding the conveyance of troops), The total expenditure in 1877-8 was £1'*!,346,340, which was the largest since 1860. In 1882-3, the expenditure fell to its lowest figures £9,374,328. The actual expenditure for 1882-83 was £10,790,201, and' that for 1873-4 is estimated to be £10,620,000.
