INDIGNATION MEETING AT PALMERSTON NORTH.

A large and influential indignation, meeting was held here last nigh. Mr Jenasen, Mayor, in the chair, following resolutions were passed uuauf mously:—Proposed by Mr J,B. Hamilton, :" That this constituency deeply" that after so many endeavors to obtain its legitimate portion of the present vote for railways in the North Island on this years Estimates, no provision is made for the construction of the line'con'netting, the Palmerston distriot with Woodville,. whereas last year it waa • understood the diau-ibution of the vote for railway works on the Masterton liue, to its junction with the West Coast line, was arraugod, purposely by Government, with & view to' commence operations at this end within,a reasonable time." Pro-, posed by Mr M'Neill, seconded by Mr Ferguson" That this meeting raapeot* fully requests that a sum sufficient to commence the construction' of the inoat ' " important link of railway iii, ! the North Island, namely, to connect Woodiille with •Manawatu, be placed on the Supplementary Estimates of this session of Parliament." Proposed by Mr Snelson seconded by Mr Venn—" That in the opinion of tins meeiing it is quite obvious that the Hon. W. \V. Johnston has, during the present session, studiously ignored the express wishes of his constituents, which wo set forth in certain ieselutions agreed upuu at the annual meeting of electors held in this hall, mid which a depuUhon thenappointed was authorised-to convey-.! to lum, and this meeting rewrote" that through Mr Johnsioii's inaction, interes'l of very urgent importance aro pjss'idover which may tend to sever the confidence so unanimously placed in liitu at the last genoral election," It was resolved (O invito Messrs Wilsou, Stephens, aiid Seddon, M.H.lt.'s, to urge on Government the importance of hogiutiing the . ' Goige lino at once. .
