COMMERCIAL.
Uesnrs Ohas, Pownall & Co., Scriveners, Wellington, repert tbe supply of money offering for mortgage investment during the last month has been quite ruffioient to moot the small demand existing, at ruling rates, viz,. 7J to 3 pel cent on landed estates. Any large applications, however, now brought forward would iind more difficulty in negotiation as the amount of capital offering throughout this country has become decidedly more limited, and supplies from the neighboring colonics have for the present ceased. Money, likewise in the home market has risen again to 4 per oent with a more active demand, cheeking for the time any further remittances being sent here from that source for investment. Present ratos demanded, therefore, are likely to be maintained.
