The Board had confidence in their own Engineer, and were bound to act accordingly.—Mr Chamberlain supported the remarks made by Mr Macquarie.—The Chairman stated that he had reoaivod a letter from Mr Bremner expressing his views on the subject, but on the suggestion of Mr Macqua'rio ft ,was not read till the question was decided, so that the matter in dispute should not be biassed by any outside opinion, —Mr Dagg suggested that the Engineers should tnake an amicable arrangement fietween themselves with l'espect to this wort. After some furthbr disoutsion Mr Beethum's motion was lost, the other members of the Board confirming the. aotion previously taken in placing the proposed bridge in the hands of Mr Breraner. A letter was received from Mr Donald Mckenzie, asking t|)at j road to his homestead bemade,—Referred tpengineer, Mr 0. E. Hood waited on the bdard to ask that tenders hs called for work at Glendonnld.—Referred to engineer. An offer was made by Mr W. lornß to do oertain work at Potirau for the sum of £5 and waß accepted. An application for a cnlvert on the Fernridge road was received, and referred to the Engineer. The contractor for the Weraili road applied for permission to postpone work till spring. _ application was agreed to, a committee being to assess the progrnsßpayment for the work already done, Mr Cave waited on the Board to ask for the bush to be fallen on the line of road recently laid off by Mr Tone, and offering to pay a portion of the expenseApplication agreed to Mr McCardle attended re boundaries of the new Pahjatua Road Board, but the question was deoided to be one for the consideration of the County Oounoil. Mr Donovan again waited on the Board re road leading to his plaee. Mr Macquarie reported that he had
employed a man to effect necessary bnilf»e repairs in his Ward, and hia action was confirmed by tho Board. Messrs Beetha®, Macquarrie and Dag);, were appointed to sign oheques/ »■ Mr Beetham reported that the dams on Weslmere road could be constructed at a cost •of 4)160, find offered to pay any surpUs, above that amount, Tha Engineer was instructed to proceed, with.them.
