CARTERTON TOWN BOARD.
The Carterton Town Board met at the Institute on Monday, all commissioners being present. ' .The , bank balance was reported at £sl 13s 4d, and accounts passed for payment amounting to £ll4s 6d. The following Resolutions were carried
In reply to a letter frem Mr Stevens to turn the side drain down Dalefield road—" That in lieu of constructing a drain along Dalefield road, the Board is willing to pay over half of the cost of constructing a drain along the main road to Watercress Creek, providing such cost of construction do not exceed £ls, or a liability of not more than £7 10b be incurred on account of the Board."
In reply to the Wairarapa West County to take charge of the main road within ins boundaries—" That the Board will undertake the maintenance of the main road in this the town district for one year, on condition that the County Council pay £lO per annum towards it." "That it is desirable to vest the control of the main or County road in the Town Board absolutely; and that a copy of .this resolution be forwarded to Mr W. C. Buchanan, with a view of effecting the necessary amendment in the Town District Act. 1881.
It was resolved—Thitt the. Banger for the future receive all,trespass fees j and that the side roads be put in repair as soon as access could be obtained to the flooded gravel pits, and the weather was advantageous for carrying out the work.
