Ihave.great pleasure in presenting you with the report and balance sheet this evening, and I feel assured you will be satisfied with the result. When I undertook the duties of treasurer of this Club a year and a half ago we W9re in o very difficult position. There was a debt of over £460 against the Club, and the only asset was a small balance of insurance mouey amounting to £B3 7s 4d Dpon the opening of the new Club House a system of cash payments was adopted and has been incurred and the result is that we have oleared all our liabilities to the amount of £864 2s 9d, The arrears of rent to the amount of another £52 17s was written off by i ho Club Co in exohange for 40 sharos presented lo the Club by Messrs Beetham, Bidwill, Plmrazyn and Rnaaell. The position of the Club at the present moment is that we owe nothing and have a credit balance of nearly £24 in the Bank, together with good assets to to the amount of another £169. A great deal of this success is due to aoiive assisatance afforded by your House Committee Messrs Black, Somerville and the Secretary. Having fulfilled my promise of clearing tho Club from debt I now resign my offico of Honorary Treasurer ray parting adfice is that yon never order anything you cannot pay cash for; and you need never fear to get into debt. If the new committee to be elected to-night will bear 'this in mind, and act upon it as finnly as the outgoing committee has dono for the past twelve months you will have the satisfaction of receiving a still bettor Balance Sheet next year. To insure this result it will be necessary for members to be more punctual in paying their subscriptions. £39 10s Od arrears is far too much to show on our Balance Sheet.
