WAIRARAPA AND EAST COAST PASTORAL AND AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY.
A meeting of the Show Committee took place on Monday. PresentMessrs W. 0, Buchanan (President), H, Braithwaito, J. Stuckey, B. Boys, W.E. Bidwill, W. Booth, J. Reynolds, Nl Grace, A. Matthews, and D. Donald.
The minutes of the previous nieetin] were read and confirmed,
Mr D. McDougall offered a prize deferred from last year of £2, for Bheep-dogs, upon trial, the prize to bo awarded to the dog that yards the sheep in the quickest time. Mr John Barton offered a priw of £2 2s, to bo allotted as the Committee might think fit, • Mr Reynolds moved, and Mr Boys seconded—That the ploughing match be held at the Lower Valley. But this was subsequently withdrawn, and it was resolved—That the ploughing match this year be held at Mastcrton, and next year at the Lower Yalloy.
The following prizes were allotted: —Double-furrow ploughing, Ist prize £B, 2nd prize £6:' single-furrow, Ist prize £6, 2nd prize'£3; boy's ploughing, Ist prize £5, 2nd prize £2; best kept set of plough harness, Ist prize £2; best'-'groomed horses, Ist prize £2. The date of the match was fixed about the last week of. August. The following committee was appointed to carry out the programme: Messrs J. Reynolds, D. Donald, W. H. Beetham 'and Braithwaite, with power to add to their number, The following■'> subscriptions were promised ;—The. President, £2; the Treasurer, £i>"MrW. E. Bidwill, £l, The horse;parade, was fixed for Saturday, the 29tlr September, from 2 to 4 p.m. Stewards—Messrs Grace; Braithwaite, Hi McMaster, and R. R. Armstrong..,' ,[ Several gentlemen were nominated to act as judges of the ploughing match. .■•■■...
Mv J. Stuokey was appointed a committee.from this society to arrange with the Masterton Horticultural Society/and Mr Braithwaite with the Greytown ! Horticultural Socioty for holding a flower show at the annual agricultural show. Messrs Boy's, Booth and Braithwaite were appointed a committee to report at the next meeting on the repairs and improvements necessary to the show grounds.; . ;;:; '•„■■.,■
Members were allocated to various districts'to canvas;for prizes, the lists to be closed and sent in before the end of August,' 1883, : " Several...gentlemen wore nominated as judges forANapier and Wanganui in the vaaious classes of stock, subject to their consentbeing, obtained.
