The importance and even necessity to this locality of such an undertaking cannot bo questioned, No similar institution exists in the North Island which is thus wholly dependant for its supplies upon the Woollen Factories of the South Island aud upon import*. It is moderately estimated that the quantity of material of the olaßses proposed to be manufactured, which would find an immediate outlet, would veavly exceed £250,000, an amount sufficient to yield a very bandBorne dividend upon the capital of tho Company. Tho special natural advantages possessed by this dittriot for carrying on and trading fa manufactures of the classes proposed muat.of themselves form an essontial olomontm the success of the Company, and giv« assurance that it will be able successfully to emulate the prosperity of other factories already in operation in the South Island. The Diieclors do not venture to afford any data upon which to ground anticipations of profit, but confidently appeal t» the success which has attended the operations of the Kaiapoi and Mosgiel Woollen Companies as offering a reasonable guarantee that the picsent undertaking will, under careful management, not be behind them in the returns it will yield.
