TARATAHI-CARTERTON HIGHWAY BOARD.

The newly-elected Taratahi-Carterton Highway Board held their first meeting at; the Institute, Carterton, on Tuesday last. Present-Messrs Booth (chairman of the late Board), Boys, Braithwaite, Parker, Buchanan, Nix and Hait Mr Booth was again nominated for the chairmanship but declined the honor as having held .it for seven years in succession, and thought he was entitledito a rest. He had much plea-sure-in nominating Mr Boys, who was seconded by Mr Nix and duly elected Chairman. Mr Boys having returned brief thanks for the honor and eulogised .the way in which his predecessor had : carried: out the duties of the office business was proceeded with. The treasurer's report showed a debit balance at the Bank of £9B 6s 2d, and the usual monthly statement of the Ward balances, and Mr Woltcrs was re-elected treasurer. The regular date of meeting was fixed for the last Saturday in each month at 11 a.mt The sum of £8913s transferred from the Masterton Highway.
