REPORT of committee. 1 The' Committee, in laying before members tho- annual statement of accounts, made ,up to the sth April, 1883, and duly audited, and found correct, have again pleasure in meoting. the members with a report of satisfactory progress during.the past year, : The horse parade, 'which took place on ..the 30th September, 1882, gave receipts of £7, as against £5 13s for the preceding year,,and was fairly well attended. ;shews*an item of is6Jss'fqr the erection 'of a substantial'building devoted to the 'department j and also 'shews a considerable increase in the prizes and medals paid to exhibitors, as compared with the year 1881-82; 1 A credit balance' of £139 16s 2d exists at, the bank on date of balancing. The Committeohave again toacknowledge tho liberality evinced "by tho givers of private and are,fully aware that 'these add' in a material degree to 'the success of tho annual show. 5 ' ",■ . ,l -j '{ t 'i' '' It is to be mentioned that the Committee have been enabled, with the,as-, sistanceof local Horticultural Societies to establish an horticultural exhibition on the dato of the Pastoral Show, and are glad to be able, to state that as a commencement the movement has been fairly 'successful, and certainly provided a considerable extra attraction to the visiting public. During the past year the Committee have at various tunes discussed the subject of an annual ploughing match, and it has been geneially couceded that it would be highly desirable to establish an event of this character as one off the regular fixtures of the Society. -',. •< In consequence of the departure of Mr J, Snodgrass from this district, the President has requested Mr T, W. E, Seed to audit the accounts in his Stead. I :- ' ;: ';:-•■. >■*■..';;■ • The following, officers; now retire by effluxion of time:—President, Vice; president, Treasurer, and Auditors, and 'five members of the Committee retire by ballot. The meeting will therefore be called' upbn.to fill up'the vacancies,, and in the meantime the 1 Committee will 1 be' glad 5 to give any further information which any member may be pleased to ask for.
