CORRESPONDENCE.
■ [to the editor wairarapa daily.} Sir-Could you inform the burgesses of Masterton what has become of the instruments that were purchased by the public for the formation of a Town Band, also if the report is.true that they are claimed by the Volunteers and by what authority they claim them? It, is also reported that they were given over to the Volunteers by the trustees who were appointed by the public to take charge of them. I think, sir, if this is the case they have committed an illegal act. As at present there seems to bo a fight who should have' the instruments, I would suggest that they be called in by His Worship the Mayor, and a meeting held to seoif an efficient Band could not be formed in Masterton, and some practical use made of the instruments for the benefit of the public. : . ' 1 Yours, Ac. Burgess.
