TRIAL OF AN ASBESTOS FIRE SHIELD.

A teat of an ■asbestos ciirtain or'fire ,shield .was mado recently before -members of the -Washington ; ' Fire' 1 ' Board, and tho police'.and,firtf depattments,' The curtain was h'uiig between the posts* i On one side of the curtain .was a pile of kindling wood, arid close' on] the other .a. .frame of wood, with a, glazed window. When the kindling wd,od was tired the heat was so great that the spectators were driven back a distance of fifty feet.
