ONITED PRESS ASSOUIATIONI Auckland, Tuesday. It is stated at Alexandra that Mahuki's people are assembling atTe Uira, and believe that Bryce will not be allowed to go through unmolested. An Alexandra telegram of yesterday states tliat a meeting called by the Ngatimanopoto's at Kuti commences to-morrow, and that Waihariui has gone up. The.meeting is considered very important by the natives., Bryce will doubtless go through with Hurst house on the meeting being concluded. A Samoan correspondent writing under date March 20, says:—A Chinaman, for killing a girl, has been fairly tried by the Samoan Government by a jury of twelve, six whites and six Ssmoaris/andfully. convicted of murder. The.execution has been put off till 'Easter Monday, because this week includes Good Friday, and is passion week. '....., ........
Nelson, Tuesday. The school committee have established a night school for lads, and it has been well attended.
