FREEING THE BRIDGE.

Wangaxci, April 2, The tolls on Wanganui bridge were abolished,at midnight on Saturday last, andthis afternoon a public ceremony was held to celebrate the occasion, and speeches were delivered by the mayor (Mr Carson)',- Mr Watt, M.H.R., Mr Ballance, and others. The Ere Brigade formed a guard of honor, and the Wanganui Rifles' Band performed, There was a large and enthusiastic crowd, and glorious weather.
