A meeting of the creditors of Mr 0. Madsen was held at the R.M. Courthouse Masterton, on Thursday afternoon, when about a dozen orediiors, representing laborers; sawmillers, storekeepers, news pap.erß.&c.,werepresent. MrM. Oaßelberjj .was voted to the oliair, and elected Creditors' Truatee. The liabilities were filed at £39ol7s,aud'ihe assets at £352 13s 9d. Of tho liabilities £175 were secured. The principal creditors are, unsecured ; McGregor Bros, timber, £42 12 6d; MV Oaaelberg & Co., £37; F. Harrison, £2o;' McEwen, £l6 Is; Eapp & Hare, £9; and several sums for labor, &c. v The secured liabilities were—Permanent Investment andLoan.Asaiiciation £125; and Dr Beard £SO, The debtor was submitted to a .aearchinK;exaininatiori by the Trustee bbto a transaction with Ins father-in law in'' exchanging a house'and 60 aore section in Mauriceville: for, a house and | acre section in Masterton, and also as to. what had become of money received from the County Councils f»r several laree' contracts. The debtor's explanation of these' points, and, as to : a former partnership between himself and brother,, did not appear very'satisfactory,.to the' Creditors, and the Trustee informed him that a full .enquiry,would;be: made, into!hJß/affairß.
